Open Door Policy
This political cartoon is about the Open Door Policy. The Cartoonist most likely had a negative point of view on this policy. It shows Uncle Sam at the opening of China with many other people representing their nations. However Uncle Sam looks evil as he stands infront of door with the key to China. This interprets that America was controlling the trade with the Chinese without listening and respecting the rule that no country should have a monopoly with the trade with China. Although this cartoonist may have represented the Open Door Policy as a bad thing, others may have thought that this was a good idea because it gave the U.S. many new things. The cartoonist used labeling when he but the words "China" at the top of the cartoon and also used symbolism when he used Uncle Sam to represent America. This cartoon supports not support my position on American Imperialism because it was not right for America to control the trade with China.
